Thesiger-Oman International Fellowships provide two £8,000 awards per year to post-doctoral researchers to advance geographical knowledge through fieldwork in an arid or semi-arid environment. Research in the Middle East and other areas visited by Sir Wilfred Thesiger will be prioritized. One award is given for human and another for physical geography. As a memorial to Thesiger, these awards were established with the support of the late Sultan of Oman, Qaboos bin Said al-Said.
